Printer Usage

Some printers are good for general printing, while others are better at specialized tasks or combine several functions into one machine.

o Photo: If you take lots of pictures, consider getting a photo printer.  Photo printers can be in the form of photo inkjets -- which can print both photos and text; snapshot photo printers -- for outputting small 4x6-inch prints; or professional photo printers -- for large, tabloid-size photos and often including network connections to enable printer sharing.  Most consumer and professional photo printers use inkjet technology, while most snapshot photo printers that print 4x6-inch prints rely on dye-sublimation technology.  Regardless of the type or technology that is used, the most important thing to look for in a photo printer is photo realistic quality.  Everything else is secondary.

o General Purpose: As the name implies, general purpose printers can be used for printing almost anything, including text and photos.  Choose a general printer with a laser format if you print more text than photos; and choose an inkjet format if you print more photos than text.

o Multi-function: Multi-function printers (MFPs) combine in one device several functions such as printing, scanning, faxing, and copying. MFPs cost less than buying separate stand-alone devices and cut down on the hassle of setting up individual machines.  If you are strapped for budget or space, consider these all-in-one devices.  Take note, however, that a malfunction with one component takes down the whole device, and individual components may not be upgradeable.  MFPs are available with either laser printers to emphasize speedy text printing and the occasional graphics output; or they are available with inkjet printers for vibrant photo printing.

Environment and Applications
When deciding on a printer, think about where and how you plan to use it.  The home user will have different printing needs from that of the office worker, photographer, or traveler.

o General/Basic home use: Versatile, affordable printers are the best choices here, and inkjets usually satisfy the printing needs of most home users looking to output photos from their digital camera or for other light printing needs.  Ink cartridges can be expensive, so look for inkjets with separate cartridges for each color.  This way, you need not throw out entire cartridges -- simply because one color has been used up ahead of the others -- but replace only the ones that run out.

o Home office: An MFP may be a great device to have in your home office, especially if it comes with an automatic document feeder that can process multi page documents unattended.  Extra onboard memory increases efficiency and allows for processing of larger graphics and documents with ease.  If scanning and photocopying are important to you, get an MFP with a higher resolution.

o Photography: Photo printers are the obvious choice if printing photos is your main thing.  Choose either the smaller, snapshot photo printer that produces 4x6-inch prints; or choose larger-sized, professional photo printers that are capable of delivering tabloid-size 11x17-inch prints -- even up to full-bleed 13x19-inch prints that include a border to allow room for registration marks.

o Text printing: If printing large amounts of text is what you'll be doing most, monochrome standard laser printers are your best bet -- as they can turn out page after page of crisp text fairly rapidly.  These printers are ideal for printing black-and-white text and simple graphics, so you may need to get a separate inkjet or photo printer in order to print color photos - unless you wish to invest in the more expensive color lasers that can print both black-and-white and color documents.

o Small network: A workgroup laser printer can be what you need if your home office or small office is built around a network.  Workgroup lasers pack faster print speeds and have more memory to handle multiple print jobs.  They also offer more advanced handling capabilities such as larger trays, and may offer duplex (double-sided) printing, sorting, and stapling.  More expensive than standard laser printers, the majority of workgroup lasers are monochrome -- designed for printing text and simple graphics.

o Traveler: For the businessperson on the go and looking to print, portable printers provide the solution with their compact size (small enough to fit into a briefcase), light weight (less than 5 lbs.), and handy power (operates on batteries or with a car charger).  Newer models can print wirelessly -- making it a non-issue if you forget your USB cable at home.  Some portables offer great extras such as a sheet feeder for automatic page feeding, are able to handle transparencies and envelopes, and even support an optional scanner cartridge that replaces the ink cartridge and turns the printer into a scanner. Portable printers are more expensive and print more slowly than standard printers, but convenience is what you're paying for.

Printer - A Need of Every Computer

A printer is a revolutionary birth in the world of computing.  It is a device, which generates a hard copy of the documents stored in electronic form also known as soft copy.  It prints the data on physical print media such as paper or transparencies.

Printers are intended for low-volume printing jobs, which necessitate very less time to get a hard copy of a given document.  Printers are sluggish devices and the cost per page is reasonably soaring. Since the improvement of quality and performance of printers, many jobs that used to be done by professionals in print shops are now being done by people on their own local printers.

Most of the new printers come with a USB cable, which serves as a document source.  Many printers are principally used as local peripherals, and are attached by a printer cable.  Printers that have built-in network interfaces and can serve as a device for hard copy for any user on the network are commonly known as network printers.  Printers are often are designed to keep up both local and network connected users at the same time.

Modern printers can directly connect through electronic media such as memory sticks or memory cards, or two devices such as digital cameras and scanners with the help of USB cables and Bluetooth.  Printers that include non-printing features are sometimes called Multi-function Printers (MFP) or All-In-One (AIO) printers.  Most MFPs include printing, scanning, copying and the facility of fax are among their features.

In the early years, the speed of printers was measured in units of characters per second.  However, in modern era speed of printers is measured in pages per minute (ppm).  The speed of printing 30 pages per minute is considered as a fast speed, but there are many inexpensive printers whose speed is far slower than this.  A Laser printer can be the fastest printer, which also comes in different variants of its speed.  However, its speed is sometimes faster than all other printers.

There are various types of printers such as monochrome printer, which can only produce an image consisting of one color, usually black.  A color printer, which can produce images of multiple colors.  A photo printer, which can produce images of high resolution with multiple colors.

The world's first computer printer was the 19th century mechanically driven type equipment; invented by Charles Babbage.  Now there are many companies, which are providing low-priced printers with admirable performances and features.  Such companies are Canon, HP, Brother, Lexmark, Xerox and Toshiba etc. to name a few.

Top 10 Problems With HP Printers and Their Solutions

Despite being reliable printing machines and despite your best of efforts, HP printers often malfunction. Why? There can be multiple reasons for HP printers to malfunction and display error messages.  Here we have listed 10 common HP printer problems and their solutions.

Toner smears or does not fix to the page
Check the fuser.  If it is nearing the end, replace it.  If you don't know how to replace a fuser, refer to your HP printer support manual that originally came with the HP printer setup kit.  Sometimes, fuser displays a Clean Fuser Input message.  It is a clear indication that fuser needs a cleanup.  Open the front door on your HP printer.  Check if you see a blue brush inside there (there must be one). Take the toner cartridge out of the printer to reach the fuser input assembly.

The assembly locates on top of the black toner cartridge port. Take the blue brush out and clean the assembly.  The cleanup procedure is intended for a HP Color LaserJet 5500 printer.  If you have a different printer, refer to its manual.  If it's not fuser, it may be the toner cartridge which is either defective or nearing the end of its life.  In that case also, you will need to replace it.  If the toner is neither defective nor nearing end, clean the toner cartridge assembly.

Paper Jams
Paper jams are the commonest printer problems, not just with HP printers, but with all the printer brands and models.  Paper jam can occur due to a number of reasons from torn paper bits, wrong paper tray selected, wrong paper type selected, loose paper roller, and to a lint of dust etc.  Look carefully inside the paper tray and at the exit end of the print paper path.  If there are any bits of paper stuck inside, remove them.  Check that the paper tray has the right type of paper, that is listed in the control panel of the printer.

If it is different, the printer will experience a paper jam problem.  Make sure that the paper type matches what is in the printer properties.  If not, correct it.  Also, make sure that the printer prints to the right paper tray.  Failure to which it will lead to a paper jam.  If the roller seems to be loose, tighten it carefully.  If the roller looks shiny, it may need a replacement.  Besides, never pull paper in the opposite direction that it feeds in.   Always pull it in the paper path direction.

Windows sends print jobs to a wrong printer
It happens when Windows selects a default printer by itself.  If you are using Windows 7, click the Start button and point to Devices and Printers.  You will see various printers listed under Printer and Faxes. Right-click the desired printer and click Set as default printer.  If prompted, confirm the action and exit Devices and Printers.  Restart your computer and printer.  Test a print page and check back.  Windows should print to the right printer now.

If you are using Window XP, click the Start button and point to Control Panel.  Double-click Hardware and Sound and then Printers.  Look for the printer that you want to set as default, right-click it and then choose Set as Default Printer.

Print Spooler service stops working
This is again a common problem with HP printers.  To get rid of this problem, click the Start button and point to Run.  When in Run dialog box, type 'services.msc' (without quotes) and hit Enter.  This will take you to the Services window.  On the right hand side, look for Print Spooler, right-click it and select Restart.  When prompted, confirm the action and exit the Services window.  If prompted, restart your computer.  When done, test a print page.

50.4 error message
The error message indicates a power supply problem and generally occurs when the power cord of your printer is plugged into a power strip or the UPS.  To get rid of this error message, plug the printer directly into a power outlet.

Printouts are too light, have spots
Often a printer starts printing light or spotty when the ink\toner cartridge is either dried up or clogged. Remove the ink\toner cartridge.  Take a soft cloth and dip it into either hot water or alcohol.  Now rub the soft cloth cautiously against the print head.  Also, rub it on  the underside of the nozzle of the printer.  It will soften the ink and let the printer print properly.  Put the ink cartridge back in place.  Print a test page and check back.

Error message 69.x
This shows a temporary glitch on your printing device.  To make this message disappear, you simply need to power off your printer, wait for 10-15 seconds and then power it on.  This will reset the configurations and make your printer start working again.  In case the message still appears, power off both printer and computer and then turn them on.

Error message 10
The error indicates a Supplies Memory Error.  Depending on your HP printer model, the error can occur due to various reasons.  To get rid of the problem, power off your printer and unplug it from the power outlet.  Wait for 10-15 seconds before plugging the printer back in.  When done, plug the printer back into power outlet, power it on, and let it warm up properly.  When done, print a test page and check back.  Your printer should start working fine now.  There may also be a problem with your printer's memory.  Replace its memory stick.

Cannot fit more text on the page
You may want your print page to have a substantial text amount, but your default printer settings may not let you do so.  Sometimes, you may also face a problem when shrinking the text on a sheet.  To get rid of this problem, go to Printer Properties in Control Panel.  Change the printer settings to accommodate more pages for each sheet.  For example, click the drop-down menu under Pages per sheet and posters and select it to 2 or 3 as desired per pages.  Click the OK button.  The settings may differ according to your printer model.  Refer to your HP printer support manual for correct settings.

Wireless printer problems
Wireless printers are great for home or office use.  However, they cannot beat wired printers when it comes to speed.  Wireless printer users often face printer slow problems.  To make sure that your wireless printer works at a decent speed, use a unique channel number in your router.  Besides, place your printer close to your Wi-Fi router.  Keep gadgets like cordless phones, security alarms away from your wireless router.  These gadgets create electrical interference and cause your printer to function slowly.

Copier, Printer, Scanner, Fax - The One Stop Business Machine

Small businesses form the backbone of most economies.  Numerous innovations have fueled the success of small enterprises in the last decade.  None more so, than the all-in-one printer scanner copier fax machine.  Lengthy paperwork is now both affordable and less time consuming.  The burden of costs to acquire a separate printer, scanner, copier and fax machine is now completely done away with, all thanks to this innovative multi-function device.

Deciding to equip your small/home office with an all-in-one printer is most certainly a step in the right direction.  However, making the decision is a small task compared to the job of choosing the right multi-function device to cater to your specific needs.

The market is flooded with Multi-function devices from various manufacturers.  Each of these devices has a different price tag and capacity.  This difference is primarily because of the different segments of users for the copier, printer, scanner, fax market.  The different segments include the home user, the small office user and finally the users who operate from fairly large offices.  Always remember to ascertain the needs of your business before you go shopping for a multi-function device.
You will want a copier, printer, scanner, fax with a fax modem speed of at least 33 kbps.  Any slower and faxing documents will end up becoming an expensive and tedious affair.

Most multi-function devices have a standard memory of 8MB.  However it is advisable to have at least 16 MB of memory or more.  Especially if you frequently work with large documents.  Certain multi-function devices are equipped with an expandable memory.  Keep a lookout for this useful feature, especially if you are intent on a future upgrade.

The copier, printer, and scanner of the mult-ifunction device should have a resolution of at least 1200dpi x 600dpi.  Most multi-function devices have a resolution of 600 x 600dpi which leads to unclear and blotchy images.

The minimum required speed for the printer of the multi-function device is 22ppm.  Preference is usually given to multi-function devices possessing a laser printer.  Although more expensive than an inkjet printer, the laser printer has greater output and documents printed by it show greater durability.
Most importantly ensure that your multi-function device has an automated document feeder.  This part of the device is a tray which usually holds 25-50 sheets of paper.  It is a valuable aspect of the multi-function device, since it feeds the papers into the machine at preset time intervals without you having to stand next to the printer all day long.

Last but not least, while you are at the store, try out all the functions of the all-in-one printer.  Play around with it for a bit and feel free to ask the sales rep the smallest details about the product.  Also, ensure that you inquire about the after sales service before handing over your credit card.

Getting your business to grow requires great foresight.  Acquiring information about the latest developments in technology is always in the good interest of the small business owner.  The printer scanner copier fax is one such technological development which allows business owners to optimize their resources.

Now you can also find selective information for these Kyocera-Copystar copiers from various links on the internet. Here as you look through the many World Wide Web sites you will now be able to find performance evaluations.  Although, not all companies are delivering this information, many are trying.  You will also be able to find out what past customers have to say about the many different makes of Kyocera-Copystar Copiers.

When you have finished with your information search you can go to the store that you feel will give you a good deal on the various Kyocera-Copystar Copier products and choose one of these copiers. This also gives you an opportunity to get any last minute questions answered.

Before you you pull out your credit card to pay for the copier you should find out what the go back policy is regarding the Kyocera-Copystar Copier. A New Generation of Compatible Toner Cartridges and Savings

As an exclusive user of Compatible Toner Cartridges for twenty years, there have been a lot of changes in the toner cartridge market.  Today, the estimated market for toner cartridges is about twenty billion dollars a year.  There is no question that you can save on your toner cartridges.  However, before you jump in and purchase a toner cartridge, you would be wise to do a little homework.  An informed choice can save you a lot of headaches.

When companies first began selling compatible toner cartridges, these cartridges were primarily recycled toner cartridges.  They were referred to as "drill and fill" toner cartridges.  What these companies did was take an old discarded toner cartridge and drill a hole in it.  Then, they simply poured in new toner, plugged up the hole and offered the consumer this great deal on a compatible cartridge.

Many times these drill and fill toner cartridges produced poor quality print and fewer printed pages.  The other problem with these type toner cartridges was the inconsistency between cartridges.  One toner cartridge printed much better than another toner cartridge, even though both cartridges were processed identically.

Today, the technology has vastly changed and improved.  There are many reputable printer companies producing compatible toner cartridges.  The technology they use is as good as the technology used by major printer manufacturers.  These reputable toner companies use all new parts.  Many of the components they use are identical to those specified by the original equipment manufacturer.  For example, they use the same types of toner, drums, rollers, etc.

Know What Toner Cartridge You Are Buying
The problem today is that a compatible toner cartridge sometimes has a dual meaning. When some companies use the term compatible toner cartridge, they are really talking about "re manufactured" toner cartridges.  Other company's use the term compatible toner cartridge to refer to a "new" toner cartridge manufactured by a third party toner company.  Both types of cartridges could be a good buy.

Learn About the Toner Company
All toner companies are not the same.  Both the re-manufactured and the new compatible toner cartridges offer the consumer significant cost savings.

A reputable toner company will use a quality control testing process for re-manufactured toner cartridges.  This means they do more than simply empty the old toner and replace the cartridge with new toner.  They will check the toner cartridges for quality of printing.  They double-check the toner parts for wear and tear.  When a problem is spotted, the cartridge part in question is replaced.
A reputable toner company that produces new compatible toner cartridges will also have a quality control program in place.  What matters most is the long-term quality and quantity of print.
The consumer dictates this. The toner cartridge user must be satisfied with both the first page printed as well as the last.

Even though you do a massive amount of research, you may never truly know all you'd like to about a toner company.  However, you can learn exactly what type of compatible toner cartridge you are purchasing.

You should know at least ten things about a company before your purchase a toner cartridge online. Visit our website and review our special section "Purchasing Compatible Toner Cartridges Online".
One important key to identifying a quality toner company is to study their toner warranty and money back guarantee.  A quality company will stand behind their toner cartridges.  If a company does not offer a one-year warranty and money back guarantee, keep looking.

Today you can get a quality compatible toner cartridge at significant savings.  Do your homework.  Visit several online sites.  Look up your exact toner cartridge.  Find out the exact type of toner cartridge they sell.  Study their warranty.  If possible, talk with someone that has purchased toner cartridges from the company.  When you make an informed decision, you'll find that a compatible toner cartridge can significantly reduce your printing cost without sacrificing quality or quantity.

Businesses Do Still Use Printers and Copiers

Yes, we are moving into the modern age but certain realities still remain constant. One of those realities is that businesses do still rely on printers and copiers. As a result there are many options available such as new, used, or refurbished printers and copiers to suit your budget.

Most businesses use printers and copiers for a number of reasons which include keeping track of important documentation such as invoices. Although many of them have an online invoicing system they still require a paper trail for the accountants. Usually accountants will keep a file with all the invoices for a particular financial year. Allocating printed invoices in a file is the ideal way to keep track of important financial records on an annual basis.

While on the point of invoicing, a customer may require a copy of the invoice for their own financial records, so the business would require a copier for this purpose. Keeping accounting records is a very important reason why most companies require the use of printers and copiers.

Training and development is another reason why printers and copiers are necessary. In medium to large companies, training and development of employees is an integral part of the growth of the business. Training manuals that are developed by Human Resources need to be printed for each employee, and once training is completed a record of the training completed is kept in their development file. Throughout the year, various assessment and performance records are printed and added to the development file. These documents need to be readily available when it is performance appraisal time.

Keeping track of orders is essential in any business. It is a general requirement that an order is placed in writing. In this day and age, an order sent via email is acceptable. The sales person receiving the email order will then print the order so that it can be passed through the departments as part of the order processing system. With the original printed order readily available for each staff member it is easier for them to get the order processed correctly. This minimises errors when processing the orders.

Printers and copiers are still quite popular in businesses whether they are large or small enterprises. Keeping a paper trail is still preferred by many people within an organisation. It is then up to the relevant department to decide whether they require a new, used or refurbished printer and copier.

Copier Fax Machines- 4 Important Reasons To Get One For Your Office

Copier machines and fax machines are among the most important office equipment today.  Almost every office needs them both, so why not just get a dual-purpose machine?  Copier fax machines have all the functions of both copier machines and fax machines.  If you are not sure whether you should get one for your office, here are a few reasons to convince you:

1. Copier fax machines save space.
Combining the two large machines into one smaller apparatus can automatically free up a lot of space in your office.  You can even go for one of the smaller models of copier fax machines.  You can lose the bulkiness without losing any of the features.  Sometimes these small copier fax machines even have more features than their larger counterparts.  Besides, they look much sleeker and will make your office feel much more modern.

2. Copier fax machines save time.
If you are very busy, and most people are, copier fax machines can help you save time.  They can do more than one task at a time.  Many of these machines can send out several facsimiles at once, using several phone connections.  You can also make copies of documents and send them to your clients at the same time.

3. Copier fax machines save energy.
In the past, office employees had to make copies on the copier, then rush to the other end of the office to send the fax.  With copier fax machines, they can do it all in one place, minimizing the hustle and bustle in the office.  Copier fax machines also save on electrical energy consumption by combining two machines in one.

4. Copier fax machines save money.
When you use a separate copier machine and fax machine, you need to buy two different kinds of toner. With the copier fax machine, you only need one kind.  Moreover, with the copier fax machine, you will have to pay for the repair and maintenance of only one machine, rather than for two separate pieces of equipment.

There are many different kinds of copier fax machines available that you can choose from.  You will have to consider various factors before selecting the right kind of machine for your office.  No matter what your needs are, there is sure to be a copier fax machine that is perfect for you.

Printer and Copier Repair Can Be Frustrating

It usually happens when you need to print out or copy important papers when your printer or copier breaks down and leaves you surprised and frustrated.  It doesn't matter what is the brand: Lexmark, Canon, Dell, HP, Brother, Ricoh, Toshiba, Konica Minolta, Kyocera, Panasonic or Xerox - it happens to every brand sooner or later.  Since copiers and printers are made of an extensive array of parts (the most problematic parts being plotters, toners, belts, carriage belts, trailing belts and, it will be an arduous job to find a solution and put your printer or copier back into a working condition.

You should think about calling professionals instead of trying to come up with a solution by yourself.  Sometimes, printers jam; the copiers and papers stop copying for no apparent reason, but as in everything else, there is a reason that is not so obvious for an untrained mind.  Usually, the repair firms charge unimaginable prices for their services and often, you will be better off if you buy a brand-new printer or copier which will usually cost you much less than paying for those repair services, unless you call an independent copier repair service.

It's not surprising for repair firms to charge the high prices for the services as there are myriads of details in the printer and copier which require years of work experience for the specialist to be able to get through all the details and eventually, to find a problem and fix it.  On the other side, those who don't wish to cover the repair invoice will have to buy a new machine.  Buying a new printer or copier is associated with different set of problems that are obvious for someone who has been working in this industry for decades.

The problem is that if you choose to buy a new printer or copier the cost of which is lower than the price for its repair then you will face the same tech problems which you faced before buying this machine: in other words, low-priced printers and copiers are made of low-quality materials and usually, they have comparatively shorter life-time than its high-end counterparts.

Those who choose to ask the repair companies for help and don't want to buy another low-quality printer or copier are the ones who make  a wiser choice.  Besides the fact that repair services will remove the stress that usually comes along with an unexpected machine breakdown, they will give you professional suggestions to keep your printer or copier in a desirable working condition.  They will provide you with the tips that you won't find on the internet.   In addition, repair services will also handle the printer/copier resources like sheets and ink cartridges etc.

Why Copier Fax Machines Are An Essential Addition To Any Home Office

If you are considering the purchase of a copier fax machine in the near future, check online to find out what users have to say about the brand of copier fax machines that are available.  The copier fax machines are an essential addition to any home or business.  Even if you never use it your kids will need it for reports, you can copy important documents to put in a safe.

If you have a small business that you run from your home office having access to a copier fax machine is mandatory.  There are so many choices that most people just opt for the least expensive.
When the combination fax, copier, scanning and printer machines first were produced, they were major problems with these products.  Today the technology has advanced.  The machines for the most part are reliable and deliver all of the separate functions well.  The combination copier fax machine is a bargain because it eliminates the need for additional space.  If you can get the total combination of printer, fax copier, scanner and typist, you have a real winner.

Some of the newest copier fax machines have some features that rival more expensive office machines. Before you spend any money on any type of office product do a Google search to see what people are saying about the product.  You can save your self some valuable research time and money by checking the Internet to get the facts behind the fax copier machine that you want to purchase.
Amazon has some great reviews on products that will make you either change your mind about the brand you selected or push you to purchase a particular copier fax machine.

Some of the reviews are funny.  Some of the reviews regarding certain product manufacturers is enlightening.  You realize that it wasn't your fault that the ink ended up all over the floor it was a product defect.  When you decide to buy new equipment whether it is second hand or new, just do a search on the Internet for review of the model and type of copier fax that you are considering.  Be careful purchasing any type of buyers guides that cost from $29.00 for copier fax machines.  These guides are a waste of money.  You can get reviews of these products for free from several websites.

After you do your due diligence on copier fax machines check eBay, but be very careful that you're dealing with someone reputable, cause there are a lot of scammers claiming fantastic prices, for not so good equipment. I saw a copier fax machines starting as low as $20.00 to a high of $425.00, just beware, if it sounds to good to be true it probably isn't.  You can purchase a brand new copier fax machine or choose from several other vendors on line  rather than eBay that offer used copier fax machines as used machines.  You can purchase a name brand machine from any of the brand name manufactures.   I caution you though, do a search for the machine and read what users have to say about the performance and reliability of the copier fax machines before you spend your hard earned money.

Laser Toners - Sources To Get High Standard Laser Toners

Laser printers are more expensive as compared to inkjet printers.  These printers are used mainly for large scaled official purposes.  The performance of these printers is heavily dependent on the quality of the laser toners.  New toners are extremely expensive, and it is not possible to buy them time and again.  Most organizations get them refilled.

A number of companies are manufacturing laser toners.  Every company which deals in these printers has a range of toners available.  In my opinion, refilled colored toners sometimes, do not have the same quality as new ones.  The presentation and brightness of colors is not very good in comparison to the new original laser toners.  Apart from that, the quality of printouts is not that good as you might find toner grains on the printouts.  This is because of non-uniformity of its contents.

Buying new toners is not that hard.  You can get them from any brand dealer.  The problem is when you opt for refilling or buying compatible toners.  In this case, the level of quality varies from vendor to vendor as their suppliers and producers change.

OEM Laser Toners
These toners are manufactured by a professional company which usually is the manufacturer of the printer.  They have a standard size and shape.  Apart from that, they carry a brand logo.  The compatible versions never use the image of a brand.
OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) products are the most expensive and they cannot be remade ditto by other companies in this business.  Apart from that, you cannot refill your toners with the original company ink.  The quality of ink used in the re-manufactured products is not that good.

Remanufactured toners
Do you know that re-manufactured toners are less harmful for the environment?  This is because they are made out of recycled plastic.  These cartridges also termed as eco-toner cartridges.  Once your toners are empty, you need to take them to a reputed dealer and get them refilled.  However, make sure that only the best quality toner ink is used to refill these cartridges.  Low quality refills hinder the performance of a laser toner.

You need to be careful while you are placing an order for new toners.  You can get the best deal in terms of quality and price from the company dealer available online and not a third party vendor, as they will offer low quality product at higher rates.  Good brand vendors maintain an updated stock so you can rest assure about the quality level.

Why Do People Prefer Remanufactured Cartridges Over Compatible Cartridges?

One of the most important office machines is the printer!  Imagine a day without printers, computers, fax machines etc. they can be Chaotic and frustrating right?  In fact it can mean a stump in revenues also.  Whether office or educational institution, these machines have become a part of our lives now.  Hence, it is imperative that we take care of these appliances and machines.  We need to understand their components, their service mechanism, need to be in touch with customer care and suppliers, and above all respect all the parts and take care of the same.

Mainly there are 3 types of printer cartridges - OEM, Compatible and Remanufactured.  One of the 1st cartridges to hit the market bearing brand names was the OEM ones.  They are costly and standardized; but many customers want cartridges which are specially manufactured to meet certain requirements and exceed beyond the OEM ones.  These are the compatible ones.

They are customized to meet specific client needs and hence are not branded like Exxon, Canon etc. they are manufactured by third parties and not the actual manufacturers.  They can either be 100% compatible or less. If the cartridge is 100% compatible, it will be able to function with any kind of printer.  This means that 100% compatible cartridge is recognized by any printer and hence will function smoothly.

If the cartridge is not a 100% compatible cartridge, then some printers may not be able to recognize it and the functioning might be hampered.  That is the main problem with compatible cartridges and faced by many customers.  Hence, they are not really the first choice by most people.  Compatible cartridges can sometimes be even more expensive than either OEM or remanufactured ones.

The main difference between compatible and remanufactured is that compatible is made by assembling new parts where as re manufactured is made by using the already serviced parts.  Remanufactured cartridges uses already serviced parts but go through a battery of tests which ensures supreme quality! Remanufactured cartridges have a fantastic combination of price and quality.  Just because it is cheaper, that does not mean they compromise on quality.  Quality is supreme, but at affordable prices - which is what is most attractive for all customers!

It is thus, essential to make a prudent choice between different cartridges, printers and toners. Remember they are the life line of your organization.  You do not want your work to be hampered.  Visit us at ctcopier.com for more information and excellent customer service.  Our experts will help you make the right decision. You are not alone, we are here for you!

Getting the Best Remanufactured Cartridges

Remanufactured cartridges are used cartridges that are taken back to the factory after use, where they are redesigned for reuse.  They are an inexpensive option to new cartridges, as they give an almost similar quality to new cartridges.  These remanufactured toner cartridges and laser toner cartridges are commonly used, as they are almost as effective as new ink toner cartridges.

They undergo various processes, which fall under the remanufacturing process.  One among the most important processes that cartridges undergo is disassembling, washing and replacement of the broken parts.  The toner too is refilled then packed in new packaging thus, apart from the price and the fact that the cartridge is remanufactured.  The printing quality is almost the same if not better most times, as that of a brand new cartridge.  Remanufactured cartridges are marked thus, this enables buyers distinguish remanufactured cartridges from new cartridges.

The advantage of acquiring remanufactured cartridges is that the buyer saves approximately 50 percent of the price of a new cartridge.  This is also realized on purchase of remanufactured laser toner cartridges since the cartridges are refilled and the laser toners undergo refilling.  They also have remanufactured supplies for photocopiers and fax machines.  With an almost similar quality in output, remanufactured cartridges have the added advantage of having a consumer friendly price tag.

The other advantage of printer cartridge recycling is that when the cartridges are remanufactured, there are fewer disposals, since the used cartridges are recycled in an environment friendly process thus, ensuring that the environment is kept clean.  This process also seeks to avoid landfills, which serve to increase pollution to unprecedented levels.  This thus keeps the environment clean from toxic and lethal chemicals that harm the environment and its users.

The refilled cartridges are tested and have certification that shows that they have met the manufacturer standards and are fit for use with printers.  The performance is also tested and there has been positive feedback from end users of remanufactured cartridges.  This feedback is taken from the users of remanufactured cartridges that have tested the refills fully for a specified period of time and thus certified their quality of use in production, therefore after this testing and certification a majority of the end users can comfortably pledge to the efficacy of these cartridges.

When looking for good remanufactured cartridges, one has to get the cartridges that are compatible to their printer type thus; this is possible through being familiar with the dimensions of the cartridge slot in the printer.  Most of the cartridges are designed in universally standardized dimensions to allow usage with major types of printers hence the size of the cartridge is not such a problem when procuring a remanufactured cartridge.

The size is mainly considered due to the quantity of toner that the cartridge contains.  It is also important to consider the color of the toner that is in the remanufactured cartridge since cartridges have different colors therefore, if the buyer is not careful they could buy the wrong color cartridge.  Most of the cartridges have black color, which is mainly used for many printing processes.

Replacing Your Printer Cartridge

No matter how good your printer is there is one thing it will always need to work properly: toner.  The toner in your printer is stored in a specially designed printer cartridge and when the toner runs out this printer cartridge must be replaced.  Printer cartridges can vary widely in price but fortunately you have many options to choose from.

OEM Printer Cartridge
More likely than not when you first purchased your printer it came with a specially designed printer cartridge manufactured by the same company that built your printer.  Every printer is different and thus the cartridge needs will always vary.  Printer cartridges manufactured by the same company as those who built the printer are referred to as OEM or Original Equipment Manufacturer.  Sometimes they are also referred to as Genuine OEM.

There are some advantages to replacing your toner with an OEM printer cartridge.  You will be sure that the cartridge will fit your model printer, as well as be sure of the quality. Unfortunately there is also a heavy price to pay with OEM printer cartridges, as OEM toner is usually fairly expensive.  If price is a concern there are other options as well.

Compatible Printer Cartridge
Your new printer cartridge does not necessarily need to be manufactured by the original printer manufacturer in order to work.  There are several companies out there that specialize in making compatible printer cartridges, that is, cartridges which are compatible with a number of different printer types from different companies.

The main advantage of a compatible printer cartridge is that it will be somewhat cheaper in price.  They can often run for as much as ½ the price of its OEM counterpart.  Most compatible printer cartridges will work just fine with your printer, however in rare instances a compatibility problem might arise.  Generally they are manufactured roughly the same as the original OEM printer cartridge, only it is manufactured by a different company.

Remanufactured Printer Cartridge
The last option for buying a replacement printer cartridge is to buy it remanufactured.  This is something made available by a number of companies in the business of recycling printer cartridges.  They take the old cartridges and rebuild them, as well as replacing the toner. Both OEM and compatible printer cartridges can be recycled and remanufactured, and will vary in price depending on the price of the original cartridge.

Remanufactured printer cartridges are popular not only because they are a cheaper alternative than OEM, but also because they are more environmentally friendly.  It cuts down on the need for new cartridges to be manufactured, as well as cutting down on the number of discarded cartridges taking up space in landfills.

The Final Step

Once you have purchased your replacement printer cartridge (or refilled your old one) it is time to put it back into your printer. Most printers will have instructions printed right on them for how to replace the printer cartridge, or you might need to consult the manual. Once your new cartridge is in you are ready to start printing again!
